Volunteers bring the game to life!
"Hockey would not survive without volunteers. In fact, the game would never have blossomed into a symbol of our nation without people donating their time—even if only to clear frozen ponds of snow so players had a place to play. Today, volunteering is an absolutely vital element of our game. Those who donate their time and energy make it all possible." ~
Every volunteer makes a difference
When it comes to volunteering in hockey, no gesture is too small. It’s the collective effort that makes the real difference, helps develop our great young talent, and makes our sport the greatest game of all.

ICECATS ATOM BB
The Clearview IceCats Atom BB team recently travelled to Detroit to participate the in Motown Cup hockey tournament. The first game was a battle of the nations - Canada vs. USA - in a game versus the hometown team from Farmington Hills. Worthy competitors, but this team was no match for our IceCats as we pulled out a 7-1 win to preserve national pride. The second game had us facing an older, and much larger PeeWee team from Sarnia. The girls were going to have to work hard as a team to take this one. It was a close game at the start, ending the first period in a 0-0 tie. But our IceCats turned it on in the second scoring 5 goals. Another win for the girls - with a 5-0 final. The last game in round robin play was against the Wallaceburg Lakers. Our girls were faced with a very short bench due to absence and injury, playing with only 5 forwards, and 3 defense!! The girls continued to impress their coaches with their drive and determination and squeaked out a 3-2 win to head to the finals.
In the gold medal game the IceCats would have to play the huge Sarnia PeeWee team again- a rough and physical team that was looking for redemption over our girls who were quickly tiring from all of the extra ice time. The game was played at the legendary Joe Louis arena which added to the excitement! Our poor girls were so tired but dug in deep and left everything they had on the ice. A 2-0 win for the good guys!! IceCat Champions!!! The weekend was a huge success, not just on the ice, but in the good times had by parents and players alike. The team bonding was the true win for these girls, and the stories that will be told for years to come. Sport at it’s best! Thanks for a great weekend IceCat families!!

Clearview IceCats skate to finals of Skills Gauntlet
Posted November 22, 2016
The Clearview Bantam BB IceCats were finalists in the Under Armour/Toronto Maple Leafs sponsored Skills Gauntlet in Toronto recently.
The team members, whose home rink is the Centre Ice Sportsplex at the Nottawasaga Inn, were asked to do a number of challenges and team building exercises in order to qualify for an on-ice skills gauntlet. Out of 97 teams registered, the IceCats finished in the top 10 and were invited to the event to compete against boys Bantam AAA, AA, A, and AE rep teams. The IceCats were the only female team at the event and they did not disappoint.
At the skills gauntlet the team participated in challenges such as fastest skater, puck control, shot accuracy, goalie lateral testing, and the shoot out challenge and did not look out of place at all, putting up points in event after event. By the end everyone in attendance seemed to be cheering for the IceCats as they demonstrated amazing skill, effort, determination, and heart.
These young women showed the nine boys teams in attendance that women's hockey is alive and well in the GTA.
Special thanks to the parents and fans that made the trip to support the team. You were definitely the loudest support group there and the girls could not help but notice your enthusiasm. It helped drive them to their success and the team and their support group did Clearview and women's hockey proud.
